A Recent Berkeley Heights Project
A Berkeley Heights homeowner contacted us about a chimney leak. Our team found the cause was damaged flashing around the chimney’s roofline and an aging cap and chase cover. We repaired the flashing and installed a new chimney cap and chase cover to stop the leak and seal out further moisture. See the full write-up, including project photos, in our Berkeley Heights case study.
What Berkeley Heights Homeowners Should Know
A chimney leak is usually caused by damaged flashing, a missing or worn chimney cap, or a deteriorating chase cover rather than a leak in the flue itself, and it’s easy to mistake for a roof leak. Creosote buildup is the leading cause of chimney fires nationally, so regular cleaning and inspection is the main way to catch problems early, along with checking for cracked crowns, damaged flashing, and blocked or deteriorating flue liners.
